New Jersey Shore loses its tropical hue

The peak opportunity for Jersey Shore Instagram photos has passed.

The tropical blue-green color that tinted the ocean last week appears to have faded already, The Press of Atlantic City reported.

But as water temperatures rose last week, the color began to fade.

The Press reported that the Atlantic was hottest on Thursday, at 78.3 degrees, around the time beach-goers said they noticed the color dull. Lacey told the newspaper that wind, currents and temperature caused the phytoplankton to disperse.

Still, the ocean remains clear.
