Philly dealership asking $500K for 1966 Batmobile replica

Holy hot wheels, Batman!

A Frankford-based auto dealership says it is selling a replica of the 1966 Batmobile, a design made famous by Adam West and Burt Ward in the campy 1960s Batman TV series.

LBI Limited, located near Torresdale Avenue and Church Street, usually specializes in rare sports cars.

"We've had lots of cool cars," said Andrew Mastin, LBI's owner. "But nothing that has had the unique duality of being a sort of a piece of art and relevant to a generation and the pop culture of that generation."

Famed Hollywood car designer George Barris built the original Bat-car for the series using a Lincoln Futura. Barris' firm also built four replicas for touring and exhibitions, according to 1966batmobile.com.

Mastin said Barris sold the car to a collector in the 1970s. The collector then sold it in the late 1980s to a North Jersey family, which is now selling it through LBI.
