Neumann-Goretti 7, Bishop McCort 4

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Grabbing an early lead and capitalizing on multiple errors, Neumann-Goretti captured its second consecutive state baseball title.

The Saints struck for five runs in their first trip to the plate, were aided by four errors, and topped District 6's Bishop McCort, 7-4, in Friday's Class 2A final at Penn State's Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

N-G's five-run first inning was highlighted by RBI singles from catcher Eric Nardini and starting hurler Phil Sanborn. Third baseman Aidan Baur and Jared Healey chipped in back-to-back singles.

The Crimson Crushers cut the gap to 5-3 on second baseman Cameron Bunn's two-run single in the home fourth.

N-G (23-4) added a pair of runs in the fifth on two wild pitches to increase their lead to 7-3.
