Temple's Thomas suffers knee sprain
Temple running back Jahad Thomas suffered a sprained knee in the Owls' 32-17 loss to Toledo during Tuesday's Boca Raton Bowl. A team official said it wouldn't require surgery.
Thomas left the game late in the first half and never returned.
He finished the game with five yards on eight carries, by far his lowest output of the season. During the game he fumbled a ball in the end zone that resulted in a second quarter safety, the first points scored by Toledo.
Thomas' previous season low was 34 yards in 12 carries in a win over Memphis. This season Thomas rushed for 1,262 yards (4.6 avg.) and 17 touchdowns. His rushing total was the sixth highest in Temple history.
A junior, Thomas finished with 19 total touchdown, the second highest single-season total in school hstory behind 27 by Bernard Pierce in 2011.
Thomas earned first-team all-American Athletic Conference honors.
