If grand openings are your thing, Joe's Steaks and Soda Shop is opening its new location in Fishtown. If you're in love with oysters, Pennsylvania 6 will satisfy your shucking needs. Have kids? City Tap House in University City invites you and the little ones to their restaurant for a special brunch this weekend.

Joe's Steaks and Soda Shop, (6030 Torresdale Ave.) is opening a second location (1 West Girard Ave.) on Wednesday, April 1. When the shop opens at 11 a.m., guests will be able to try Joe's steak offerings plus new items such as hand-cut french fries, vegan cheesesteaks, house-made veggie burgers, specialty grilled cheeses and expanded milkshake varieties.

For seafood fanatics: Pennsylvania 6 (114 S. 12th St.) hosts A Shucking Good Time on Wednesday, April 1st. For $50 a person, you can enjoy five oyster and beverage pairings, plus a live shucking demonstration by Chef Matt Ifkovitz. For drinks, mixologist Ryan Fenton will be shaking the perfect cocktails. The dinner starts at 6 p.m. Call 267-639-5606 for reservations.

Marigold Kitchen (501 S. 45th St.) celebrates the return of spring with new food creations. Starting at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, a premiere will officially roll out a section of the new menu featuring items like barquillo, edamame hummus, and camembert. The dinner is offered for $90 per person and includes over a dozen courses.

Chef Joe Cicala of Brigantessa (1520 East Passyunk Ave.) teams up with South Philly Taproom (1509 Mifflin St.) and American Sardine Bar's (1800 Federal St.) Chef Scott Schroeder on Thursday, April 2 for a collaborative one-night-only Spuntini Takeover pairing. The available dishes for the night include: deviled eggs, lemon-marinated sardines, grass-fed beef tartare, grilled fennel, shaved pork loin, and hot dog nacho pizza. Brigantessa opens at 5 p.m. and the meals are pay-as-you-go.

City Tap House University City (3925 Walnut St.) and Jack's Abby Brewing are encouraging parents to bring the kids out on Saturday, April 4 during Jack and the Giant Beer Stalk. From 11 a.m.  to 3 p.m., enjoy Jack's Abby beers and the location's brunch menu. Fun events for kids such as balloon art, face painting, and movies will take place throughout the afternoon. Kids under 10 eat for free! Call 215-662-0105 for reservations.
