Upper Darby native Tina Fey said farewell to David Letterman in her final appearance on CBS' Late Show Thursday night in the best way possible: Spanx.
"This is my last time wearing a fancy dress on a talk show and conforming to gender norms out of respect for you," Fey told Letterman. "My gift to you is, I want to give you the dress."
"It's very hard work," she added. "I don't know if you're aware of the contraptions under here."
Fey later removed her dress to reveal a set of customized Spanx that read "BYE DAVE!" and "#LastDressEver" in bold, white print.
Now, lest you think Fey would do the same for any old late night host, she told Letterman that Jimmy Fallon is far too much like a little brother to get the same treatment. And as for James Corden, well, that's just "not going to happen."
"The next time you see me, I will be playing charades in a slanket," Fey said.
