Peco Energy Co. has earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for its Market Street headquarters, where it installed energy-efficient upgrades to its heating and cooling and its lighting systems.

Peco received a LEED Existing Building Operations and Maintenance gold certification for its headquarters, which includes a 45,000-square-foot green roof to mitigate storm-water runoff and reduce energy usage. The improvements helped reduce building energy usage by 7.25 million kilowatt-hours a year.

Peco says it has invested $15.3 million to improve the sustainability of its buildings, 12 of which are now LEED certified.
