Peco earns environmental certification

Peco Energy Co. has earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for its Market Street headquarters, where it installed energy-efficient upgrades to its heating and cooling and its lighting systems.

Peco Energy Co. has earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for its Market Street headquarters, where it installed energy-efficient upgrades to its heating and cooling and its lighting systems.

Peco received a LEED Existing Building Operations and Maintenance gold certification for its headquarters, which includes a 45,000-square-foot green roof to mitigate storm-water runoff and reduce energy usage. The improvements helped reduce building energy usage by 7.25 million kilowatt-hours a year.

Peco says it has invested $15.3 million to improve the sustainability of its buildings, 12 of which are now LEED certified.
