The gunman continued to fire as he peddled off, and a 76-year-old woman who was sitting on a porch was hit in the calf with a stray bullet, Walker said. The unidentified man was listed in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, while the elderly victim was expected to be treated and released. Man murdered in N. Phila.

An unidentified man was found shot several times at 19th and Cumberland streets in North Philadelphia at 9:37 last night, police said. The victim died at Temple University Hospital a short while later. Police know of no motives or suspects in the slaying. Tipsters can contact Homicide detectives at 215-686-3334 or -3335.

Cops seek help to ID victim

Police are seeking help in identifying a man killed nearly three weeks ago in North Philadelphia.

The victim, a black man in his 30s, was found about 12:50 a.m. on June 1 on 8th Street near Berks with multiple gunshot wounds. He was 5 feet 9, 179 pounds, and had brown eyes and black dreadlocks. He had a small, faded, unrecognizable tattoo near his left eye, black Arabic writing on his left wrist, a faded tattoo of "GOD" on his left bicep and a faint, unrecognizable tattoo on his right chest.

Witness to NE killing sought

Police are seeking witnesses to Monday's slaying of Ricardo Zayas, 18, who collapsed and died on Belden Street near Benner in Oxford Circle about 5 a.m. Monday after being shot in the head. His cousin Luis Cordero said that Zayas had spent the prior evening with friends at a nearby bar. Tipsters can call Homicide detectives at 215-686-3334, -3335 or -3336.

W. Phila. murder victim ID'd

Police have identified a man slain Wednesday morning in West Philadelphia as Tyrone Poaches, 21, who lived just a block from where he was gunned down.

Poaches, of Christina Place near Haverford Avenue, was shot in the chest about 8:30 a.m. at 48th Street and Fairmount Avenue, and died 45 minutes later at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Police know of no motive or suspects.

SEPTA cops approve contract

SEPTA's 200 unionized transit police overwhelmingly ratified a new contract last night that guarantees four annual 3-percent pay raises by March, 2011, hikes seniority-based "longevity" pay for veteran cops by 33 percent and more than doubles the annual clothing allowance to $1,443.

The FOTP worked without a contract for nearly two years and staged a one-day strike Friday before reaching an after-midnight settlement with SEPTA. *
