Police ID four slain in Phila. over three days

Police on Monday identified four men killed over the weekend in Philadelphia, and said an arrest had been made in one case.

Shamori Green, 18, of the 7900 block of Mars Place, was charged with murder and other offenses in the slaying of Matthew Augusta, 19, of the 7900 block of Buist Avenue. Both men are from the Eastwick section.

Shortly after 2:35 a.m. Friday, Augusta was found fatally shot in the head and right leg at 72d Street and Buist in Eastwick. An unspecified weapon was found under his body.

Officers found Green hiding nearby and took him into custody. Police recovered a handgun.

Police also identified three men killed Saturday and Sunday as Carlos Carrasquillo, 25, of the 3400 block of North Front Street; Tyreek Helton, 18, of the 1900 block of South 23d Street; and Corey Wright, 20, of the 5900 block of Addison Street.

Police did not publicly identify any suspects.

Around 2 a.m. Saturday, Carrasquillo was found shot multiple times in the torso in the 2500 block of North Second Street in Fairhill, police said. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:54 a.m.

About 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Helton was found lying on the sidewalk and curb with gunshot wounds to his left back and hip in the 2200 block of Mifflin Street in South Philadelphia, police said. He died at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center at 3:33 p.m.

About 6:35 p.m. Sunday, Wright was found with gunshot wounds to his torso and left thigh inside a location in the 5600 block of Pemberton Street in West Philadelphia. He was pronounced dead at Penn Presbyterian at 6:52 p.m.

Police reported no arrest, but said the motive in that killing appeared to be an argument.
