Philadelphia police have identified two men who were shot to death in the city late last week, and said a suspect had been charged in one of the killings.
Tysheed Davis, 26, is charged with murder and other offenses in a Friday afternoon shootout with Jessie Williams that left Williams dead, police said Monday.
Officials said Davis shot Williams while Williams, a 26-year-old from East Falls, was inside his 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee on the 2000 block of Wharton Street in Point Breeze shortly before 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Williams returned fire, striking Davis in the finger, then crashed the Jeep into two parked cars, police said. Another 26-year-old man who was in the vehicle suffered minor injuries to his head.
Williams was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:06 p.m.
Davis, of Point Breeze, was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition.
Police said a firearm was recovered from Williams' vehicle and another was found on the street.
Authorities on Monday also identified another man who was shot to death in a separate incident Friday afternoon.
Jason Marcial, 32, was shot in his chest and hip on the 1400 block of North 4th Street in the city's Ludlow section about 2:20 p.m. Friday.
He died at Hahnemann University Hospital at 2:54 p.m.
Police said the deadly shooting happened after Marcial, who lived in the neighborhood, got into a verbal altercation with several men who were in a dark-colored vehicle. The men then followed Marcial, shot him several times and fled. No other details about any suspects were available Monday.
