SEPTA train hits, kills person

Service on SEPTA's Norristown High Speed Line is suspended until further notice after a train hit and killed an unidentified person, officials said.

Service on SEPTA's Norristown High Speed Line was suspended for two hours Wednesday night after a train hit and killed an unidentified man, officials said.

The man was hit by a southbound train near the Township Line Road Station at about 6:30 p.m., according to a SEPTA message.

SEPTA spokeswoman Heather Redfern said the man was in the track area at the time of the incident.

"So everthing is under investigation as to why he was in the track area," she said.

Redfern said there were 53 passengers on board at the time of the incident, but no injuries were reported.

All passengers were diverted to shuttle buses, which transported riders between the 69th Street Transportation Center and Wynnewood Road Station.
