Woman’s head-injury death called homicide

The death of a Southwest Philadelphia woman yesterday morning has been declared a homicide, according to police.

Decia Carroll, 41, of the 2600 block of South Muhlfeld Street, died after being hit over the head with an object, police said.

She was found inside a residence in the 1500 block of Lindenwood Street in the city's Kingsessing section, about 2-1/2 miles north of where she lived.

She was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:53 a.m.

Investigators are trying to determine motives and suspects.

Additional details, such as whether a weapon was recovered, were unavailable this morning.
