Milgram amenable to N.J. medical-marijuana bill

TRENTON - New Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram says that a bill that would allow patients with cancer, multiple sclerosis, and other serious diseases to grow marijuana for medicinal use or buy it at a licensed outlet is "workable."

TRENTON - New Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram says that a bill that would allow patients with cancer, multiple sclerosis, and other serious diseases to grow marijuana for medicinal use or buy it at a licensed outlet is "workable."

Under the bill, which has passed the Senate but has not been heard in the Assembly, eligible patients would register with the state.

Gov. Corzine has said he would sign the bill.

While acknowledging concerns about enforcing laws to ensure that only patients are allowed the drug, Milgram said her office had sent recommendations to the governor on ways to guard against abuses. - AP
