Julie and Jeff Davis had grown up in the Southwest — she’s from Phoenix, he’s from Denver — and their 2014 move to Philadelphia for work marked the first time living in a large urban center.

“We’d never lived downtown before. Things are a little more vertical here” is the way Jeff explains it. “But we absolutely love it.”

They settled in the new three-bedroom, three-bath rowhouse with a rooftop view of Center City. The view was what sold the house, he says.

“We loved that it was so close to [Center City], where there are lots of restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance,” Jeff said. “We have a car, but we rarely use it. It’s a little bit of a bummer to leave Philly, but it will always feel like home to us.”

Jeff, a big college sports fan, enjoyed the proximity to all the universities nearby. Julie, a history buff, appreciated the city’s historical charm.

Now they are headed back west for career opportunities in California: Jeff is marketing director for a publishing company; Julie is in technology sales. He says they will rent for a while in San Francisco before deciding on a new home.

The first floor of the Philly house has a modern kitchen with stainless-steel appliances with a built-in bar top and quartz countertops. There are also a powder room and patio.

The second floor has two bedrooms and a full-size bath, and the third has the owner’s suite with a full-size bath with a double vanity. Stairs lead to the roof deck.

The basement is a versatile space suitable for entertaining or working out, and includes a laundry room.

The house’s central location puts the Broad Street subway, South Street Bridge, Rittenhouse Square, CHOP, Penn and Drexel all within easy reach.

The house has six years remaining on its property tax abatement.

It Is listed by Jessica Culpepper and Rebecca Rynkiewicz of Keller Williams Philly for $725,000.
