Shenika McCloud has warm recollections of growing up in the East Mount Airy townhouse that her parents, Meloney and Wayne Clarke, bought in 1994.

“There was a playground nearby, and if I wanted to get away from my brothers, I could go to the basement. It was just a fun time,” says McCloud, who now lives a five-minute drive away.

“It was a nice place to raise a family,” says Wayne Clarke, a native of Jamaica who came to the United States at age 19 and had been living in East Falls.

But Meloney Clarke died 12 years ago, and now her husband, who worked as an assembler in a refrigeration plant and now drives with Uber, is looking to move to a smaller place in the area.

The three-bedroom, 1½-bath house has an open floor plan on the first floor, with a glass inlay front door leading to the entry foyer.

The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and an eat-in area on one side of the counter, which can seat four people.

The side door from the dining room provides easy access to the outdoor deck for summer cooking.

The second floor has three large bedrooms and a hall bathroom with ceramic tile.

There are wood floors throughout the first floor and carpet on the second.

The finished basement has a laundry room, powder room, and mechanical room and access to the attached one-car garage.

McCloud adds that the neighborhood, which had few children in her early years, has become far more diversified in recent times.

Total square footage of the house is 1,536.

The house is listed by Marie Pogue of Keller Williams Main Line for $325,000.
