Pickax-wielding vandal targets South Philly businesses, shattering windows and doors
Police took one person into custody, but no arrests have been made.

The doors and windows of several South Philadelphia businesses were shattered in a string of recent vandalism incidents — at least one of them involving a pickax, authorities say.
Philadelphia police say businesses along Oregon Avenue were targeted in incidents that took place between March 24 and April 1.
Storefronts including CKO Kickboxing, Dollar Tree, and Oregon Beauty between 19th and 21 Streets were all vandalized in recent weeks, police say.
At the boxing gym, management reported that a woman wielding a pickax smashed windows and doors on multiple occasions, including during a daytime class with gymgoers inside.
Police say they are investigating six incidents in the area. It is unclear whether the crimes are related and whether more than one person inflicted the damage.
Officers took someone into custody in connection with the crimes and took the person to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation, police said.
No arrests have been made, and police gave no motive for the incidents.
Police continue to investigate.
