Police responded to a report of a child shot in Pemberton Township.

A 4-year-old boy died after suffering a gunshot wound to the head Friday night at a home in Pemberton Township, a spokesperson for the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Shortly after 7 p.m., police were called to the unit block of Maricopa Trail for a report of a child with a gunshot wound. The child was taken to an area hospital and later pronounced dead.
The incident appeared to be a self-inflicted accident but was under investigation, officials said.
