Highland put together a great season in baseball.
The Tartans won the Tri-County Royal Division. They earned the No. 1 seed in the SJ Group 3 torunament. They did all that despite losing pitcher/infielder Tyler Hinchliffe, a Boston College recruit, for the season with an ankle injury in mid-April.
So what is Highland's reward?
The Tartans first playoff game is Friday at home against No. 8 Seneca.
With Seneca's Kevin Comer probably on the mound.
Seneca is a No. 8 seed in part because Comer has only thrown 21 innings this season. But he's healthy now. He fired a one-hitter with 10 Ks in the first round against Ocean City.
Highland had a bye in the first round.
So the Tartans' first tournament game is against a pitcher who might be a first-round draft pick on June 7.
Some reward.
