_ Gilbert Gottfried, who was

fired by Aflac from his long-running gig as the voice of the "Aflac duck," allegedly because of his insensitive, too-soon tweets about the earthquakes in Japan, told "Inside Edition" that he was thankful for the support he's received from fellow comedians.

"Howard Stern was very nice," Gottfried said. "He spoke in favor of me, and Joan Rivers and Whoopi Goldberg."

As for how other comedians could avoid such controversies, Gottfried said, "Observe everything I do and do the opposite!"
