The Gun Debate Continues

A group of state legislators led by State Rep. Angel Cruz (D., Phila) backs a bill that would require people to register their guns and pay a $10 annual fee to the state police. Cruz says the number of gun-related homicides in Philadelphia shows why such a law is needed.

A group of state legislators led by State Rep. Angel Cruz (D., Phila) backs a bill that would require people to register their guns and pay a $10 annual fee to the state police. Cruz says the number of gun-related homicides in Philadelphia shows why such a law is needed.

Another group, headed by State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R., Butler), calls for a law that would, among other things, allow anyone who can show that he or she is in imminent danger to be quickly issued a temporary permit to carry a concealed weapon. Another proposal would eliminate a gun-sales database maintained by the state police. Metcalfe says his proposals are designed to protect the rights of law-abiding citizens under the Second Amendment.

What's your stand on this? Register guns or make them more easily available? Is there another option?
