The fifth annual Up on the Roof fund-raising party will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. June 2 on the rooftop of the Bicentennial Garage in West Chester to benefit beautification projects in the borough's downtown.

The event will include, among other things, light dining - a pasta bar from Carlino's, an Italian market based in Ardmore that will soon open a place on Market Street in West Chester, at the site of the old Gilbert's appliance store.

Hors d'oeuvres will be provided by 17 local restaurants, and there will be wine, beer and the Rooftop Martinis that have become the signature drink of the event.

The main attraction, though, will be the bird's-eye views of West Chester as night falls on the town.

The event will take place rain or shine. The garage is at 20 S. High St. Tickets are $75 per person.

Call 610-738-3350 for more information or visit www.downtownwestchester.com.

Money raised from the event will go to the nonprofit West Chester Downtown Foundation, which maintains plants and shrubs on downtown streets and sponsors historic preservation and interpretation projects.

Oh, and for that $75, parking is included.
