The president of First National Bank of Chester County, his wife, and the president of the company that makes "the finest pianos in the world" will be among those honored today at West Chester University's winter commencement ceremony on Dec. 16.

John A. Featherman III, president and CEO of First National Bank of Chester County; his wife, Jane Hoffer Featherman, a founding member of the Chester County Fund for Women and Girls; and Bruce Stevens, president and CEO of Steinway & Sons of Long Island City, N.Y., will each receive the university's President's Medallion for outstanding leadership and exceptional service at the ceremony, in which about 670 undergraduates will receive their diplomas.
Michael Kalogris of Malvern, CEO of SunCom Wireless, will be today's commencement speaker at the Hollinger Fieldhouse. Four WCU faculty members will also be honored at the ceremony. Art department chair John Baker and psychologist V. Krishna Kumar will receive faculty merit awards; C. James Trotman, professor of English, will receive the council of trustees achievement award; and Lisa Kirschenbaum, assistant chair of the history department, will receive the distinguished sponsored research award.
WCU's winter commencement is in two ceremonies for undergraduates, at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. today. The Feathermans will receive their medallions at the morning ceremony, when the four faculty members will receive their awards. Stevens will receive his medallion at the afternoon ceremony. Kalogris will speak at both.
