East Goshen recently decided to allow bowhunters to thin out the township's deer population next fall. The hunters would operate on township-owned open space, some of which adjoins residential developments.

It's not clear how much community support - or opposition - this plan has, and there is some dispute about whether East Goshen really has a deer problem.

But many people believe that the county as a whole does have a deer problem, citing the number of deer-vehicle collisions, and the high incidence of Lyme disease, which is spread by deer ticks.

How do you feel about allowing hunts to reduce the deer population? If you oppose hunts, do you have another suggestion? If you suggest rounding up deer and shipping elsewhere, specify the somewhere else that would take them.
