Kids' Festival

A fund-raising event Saturday for the all-volunteer East Brandywine Fire Company will give families the opportunity to enjoy a variety of games and activities for $10 per child. The attractions include face painting, hayrides, fire-truck rides, jewelry making, sand art and several inflatable rides as well as the Ladder 49 Water Tower Shower, a spray from Ladder 49 that will soak willing participants once an hour. Open House

An evening of family fun is planned for the open-house event Friday evening at the new headquarters of the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Kids' entertainment will include a balloon artist, stilt walker, cartoon characters, juggling magician, ventriloquist and a DJ. The local firehouse mascot, Sparky the dog, will make an appearance and the Phoenixville police will offer fingerprinting for kids. Call 610-917-9890 or visit

Mom and Kids Yoga

A yoga class designed for mothers and their children age 18 months to 5 years will be offered at the YWCA. The series of classes will teach breathing and stretching to build strength, flexibility and, best of all, maternal bonding! Moms and kids will have fun learning simple poses in a safe environment. Stream Study

Naturalists Dave Jarvie and Nick Zurga will lead an exploration of French Creek. Discover what organisms are present in the water by performing a plant and animal study, chemical testing of the water and other interactive learning techniques. Hip boots and waders are recommended. Children's Art Festival

Families are welcome to come and create environment inspired artwork at the Children's Art Festival Saturday in Haverford, which will feature 12 different project stations. The children will use natural or found objects for projects such as making weathergrams, secret gardens, papermaking, rain sticks and more. A green-themed concert will be performed by kids' rock band, the Cat's Pajamas from noon to 1 p.m. Face painting and refreshments will also be available. Call 610-525-0272 or visit
