Man apprehended in Philadelphia gun range robberies

A second suspect has been apprehended in two armed robberies of patrons outside Philadelphia gun ranges.

Philadelphia police said today that 27-year-old Jeffrey Chandler was arrested Tuesday evening on Threadleaf Terrace in Burlington.

He had been wanted in two robberies -- including one in which a man was shot -- that occurred earlier this month.

A woman, 21-year-old Samiyyah Poteat, was previously taken into custody for her role in the incidents. Both are facing charges of robbery, aggravated assault and other offenses.

The first robbery happened on June 11 outside Yury's Gun Range at 544 N. Percy St. in North Philadelphia. Police say the pair held up a 68-year-old man who was getting into his car outside the gun range, taking a backpack that contained two .22-caliber handguns.

The second occurred the next day at the Delaware Valley Sports Center gun shop and shooting range at 101 Geiger Road in Bustleton.

The assailants made off with a bag that contained seven handguns and shot a man during that robbery, police said.
