Woman, 23, charged in stabbing death of man, 65, in South Philly

Savannah Pharo, of Philadelphia, allegedly stabbed Michael Massaro once in the chest inside his residence in the 1200 block of Johnson Street.

A 23-year-old woman was charged with homicide Monday in the stabbing death of a 65-year-old man at his South Philadelphia home, police said.

Savannah Pharo, of Philadelphia, is accused of stabbing Michael Massaro once in the chest while inside his residence in the 1200 block of Johnson Street, said Homicide Capt. John Ryan.

"We're not really sure of all the details except that she was keeping him company, and some kind of dispute ensued," Ryan said.

Officers were called to the house about 1 a.m. Monday after a caller asked police to check on Massaro, saying he might need medical assistance.

Police found the door unlocked and Massaro's body in a second-floor bedroom. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:36 a.m., police said.
