Celebrating Hoyu tradition in Chinatown

The Hoyu Folk Cultural Festival celebrated in Chinatown on Sunday honors the contributions by General Huminto to the people of Fujian Province in China on his 1193th birthday,

The festival is one of the largest American celebrations of a centuries-old Chinese homecoming, and brings immigrant families together from up and down the East Coast to connect with their heritage and pass traditions and culture down through generations. General Humin, who was elevated to god status after his death is seen as a protector of the Fujian Province and is credited by worshipers with bringing prosperity to the region in the 10th century.
