Police said Friday that a 19-year-old man had turned himself in for the July 4, 2024, shooting in Southwest Philadelphia that left one person dead and eight others injured.

Naseem Sills surrendered to police in Center City on Friday and was expected to be charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Maurice White Quann, a senior at John Bartram High School.

The shooting occurred late at night on the 1900 block of Salford Street, where a group of young people had gathered after a larger nearby outdoor party that Quann had been promoting.

Nine people, ages 14 to 24, were shot, including Quann, who was struck in the face and died minutes later at the hospital.
