Mayfair home invasion victim identified

Police identified the Mayfair man shot dead in front of his wife and children during an attempted home invasion Monday night as 29-year-old Lamar Muldrow.

Around 10:15 p.m., several men walked up to Muldrow's home on the 5700 block of Leonard Street, where Muldrow was inside with his wife and three children, according to a homicide investigator.

When one of the men, who was armed with a handgun, knocked on the door, Muldrow tried to keep the gunmen from coming inside, the investigator said.

The gunmen opened fire, striking Muldrow multiple times, including in the chest and hip. He died at the hospital.

None of the three children - who were ages 12 and 15 - nor Muldrow's wife were hurt.

Police were still investigating a motive in the killing. The unknown shooter was described as a slender black man, about 6'2, in his early 20's.
