Man killed, 2 others injured in Point Breeze fire
The fire erupted around 10:50 a.m. in a three-story rowhouse on the 1600 block of Ellsworth Street.

A man died and two other people were injured after a fire erupted at a rowhouse Tuesday morning in the city’s Point Breeze section, authorities said.
The fire was reported around 10:50 a.m. on the 1600 block of Ellsworth Street, police said. A man was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:05 a.m. Another man and a woman were transported by medics to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
Responding firefighters found heavy smoke and fire showing from the three-story rowhouse, said Kathy Matheson, spokesperson for the Philadelphia Fire Department.
Around 60 fire department personnel responded to the blaze, which was declared under control shortly before 11:30 a.m., Matheson said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the man’s cause of death, Matheson said.
“It has been a very difficult day for the Point Breeze community and our members,” the fire department said on social media.
