Commuter justice

Seen at 15th and Vine streets in Center City Wednesday evening:

A traffic cop approached an inattentive female driver who had failed to proceed at a green light. The cop motioned for the driver to lower her window, and held out his hand.

The driver handed the officer her cell phone, which she'd been using. He walked to the rear of the vehicle, opened the rear passenger door, and deposited the cell phone in the rear seat. Then he closed the door and sent the driver on her way.

The cop could have written her a ticket for $150. But it seemed like a fair result, given the heavy volume of rush-hour traffic waiting in line behind this distracted driver.
