RIP, Chris Kelly of Kris Kross

One half of 90s teen duo who recorded for Conshohocken's Ruffhouse Records.

Chris 'Mac Daddy' Kelly of the Atlanta hip-pop duo Kris Kross died on Wednesday of an apparent drug overdose. He was 34. His Associated Press obituary is here.

Kelly and Chris 'Daddy Mac' Smith were teen pop stars in the 1990s who were discovered by producer Jermaine Dupri and were known for wearing their pants backwards. Their smash single  "Jump," was one of four hit singles on their debut album, Totally Krossed Out, which sold four million copies and, like all three of their studio albums, was released on Conshohocken's Ruffhouse Records.
