What is Philly Health Costs and how can it help me?

The Inquirer and 6ABC are teaming up with a health-cost transparency company to report on and collect prices of common health-care procedures with you, the members of our community.

  1. Hospitalinspections.org, a website run by the Association of Health Care Journalists, collects federal hospital inspection reports.

  2. The federal government lists a number of quality tools on healthcare.gov.

  3. A state-by-state and category-by-category list has been compiled by consumerhealthratings.com. The Informed Patient Institute is another similar resource.

Several organizations rank hospitals. They include:

  1. The Leapfrog Group

  2. Consumer Reports

  3. U.S. News and World Report
