Hostage situation at Montco firehouse

A VOLUNTEER firefighter who was terminated from the LaMott Fire Company in Elkins Park on Monday returned to the firehouse yesterday and held four former colleagues hostage at gunpoint for about an hour before surrendering without incident, Cheltenham Township police said.

A VOLUNTEER firefighter who was terminated from the LaMott Fire Company in Elkins Park on Monday returned to the firehouse yesterday and held four former colleagues hostage at gunpoint for about an hour before surrendering without incident, Cheltenham Township police said.

According to police, Paul Jordan, 25, of Wellens Avenue near 4th Street in Philadelphia, entered the firehouse shortly before 11 a.m. and held four firefighters hostage in the basement. Jordan released the hostages uninjured and surrendered to police shortly before noon, authorities said. He was taken in for a mental-health evaluation.
