Mary Mulder is not a professional decorator, but her husband, John, says “she should have been.”

For the past three years Mary, a retired community college English teacher, has lavished her attention on the interior of the three-bedroom, three-bath home in the Legacy Oaks over-55 community in Warrington. They moved there from Louisville to be near their son, his wife, and their four grandchildren.

But now she and John, a retired Presbyterian minister, are moving to Michigan, where they have many friends and a summer house, to live in a retirement community with full medical services.

The Warrington house has a stone front and covered porch and features a two-story entry foyer with hardwood floors extending through the main level.

There is a formal living room with crown molding, a dining room, and a family room with a vaulted ceiling.

The kitchen has a wall oven and large pantry. There are two bedrooms on the first floor, including the primary bedroom, two walk-in closets, and a full bath with soaking tub.

The third bedroom is on the second floor with a full bath, and a loft area overlooking the living room below.

There is also an attic, an unfinished basement with ample storage area, and garage parking space for two cars.

“The atmosphere of Legacy Oaks is convivial and friendly,” John said, “and people who move in are warmly welcomed and encouraged to participate in the wide range of community activities.”

Legacy Oaks amenities include a community clubhouse, exercise room, billiards room, library, pool, tennis courts, pickleball, bocce ball, shuffleboard, and a walking path.

And there is a wide choice of shopping centers, restaurants and parks nearby.

The home spans 2,318 square feet.

The house is listed by Timothy Smith of RE/MAX Centre Realtors for $600,000.
