One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Delaware County early Monday morning.

The crash happened in the southbound lanes near Route 420 in Tinicum Township at about 3:30 a.m.

Pennsylvania State Police said a fatality was reported in the accident and police and a medical examiner were at the scene.

Further details about the circumstances of the crash weren't available. Fog was widespread in the Philadelphia area Monday morning, and the National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory, but it wasn't immediately known whether that was a factor in the crash.

There are lane restrictions and delays in the area, according to PennDOT.
