PETA is not happy with Gov. Chris Christie over his killing of a spider

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has received flack in the past for hurling pointed, verbal smack downs against his critics and hecklers. But the political figure received heat from PETA this weekend after delivering a palm-faced smack down on an itsy-bitsy spider before a group of fourth graders.

The arachnid-expunging act delivered by the Governor was uploaded onto YouTube and later shared by Christie who Tweeted, "Earlier today I saved a few school children from a spider #nobigdea #toughdayattheoffice."

Christie, who smashed (and subsequently killed the spider - RIP), was meeting with his 4th grade daughter's class when the incident occurred.

"He probably did it without thinking," said PETA president Ingrid Newkirk to Talking Points Memo. "Some people put the spider outside, but spiders are often scary to people, and that can prevent them from pondering their worth."

This entire non-incident reminds us of that time President Obama swatted a fly on television in 2009.
