Grace Kelly home hits the market, sans cats
They say money can't buy style or class, but putting up a million dollars to buy the home where Grace Kelly grew up and said yes to Prince Ranier (sighs all around here) might get you close.
Built by the John B. Kelly family (yes, he of the rowing and the statues and Kelly Drive), the East Falls home was in the news a few years ago for a sorry state of affairs, but new listing photos betray no sign of cats.
Buyers and voyeurs alike are more likely to find traditionally decorated rooms evocative of the 1950s era when the Kelly men were rowers and soon-
to-be princess won her Academy Award for The Country Girl in 1954.
The six-bedroom home was listed last week by Patricia Gernerd at Remax for $1 million. In addition to royal and Olympic levels of cachet, the home features a formal paneled dining room and finished basement as well as a bar room.
A kitchen and breakfast nook also offer space to host more casual meals. Upstairs the Kelly children allegedly etched their heights on one of the bedroom doors.
The estate is situated on a .69-acre parcel of land which includes mature gardens and a large, private back yard. Here's the listing on Redfin (you'll need to register to view).
