Authorities recovered a body from Cooper River Park shortly after 8:30 p.m. Thursday, said Battalion Chief William Stallfort of the Cherry Hill Fire Department. The man's identity was not immediately available.

The victim's family said he swam about 30 feet into the river in the park in Cherry Hill, then went under between 7 and 7:30 p.m., Stallfort said. Police called it a suicide after speaking with family.

The search involved marine units from Westmont, Collingswood, Pennsauken, and Cherry Hill, Stallfort said.
