BRIGHTON, England - Brighton has formally apologized to Crystal Palace after excrement was found on the floor of its fierce rival's changing room before the second leg of their second-tier League Championship playoff last week.
Brighton chief executive Paul Barber says the club has "reviewed our internal procedures to guard against this ever happening again."
In an e-mail to season-ticket holders, Barber said "we apologized to Crystal Palace as soon as the vandalism in their dressing room was discovered, and again more formally a few days after the match."
Palace won the match 2-0 at Brighton's Amex Stadium on May 13 to advance to the playoff final, where it will play Watford at Wembley Stadium on Monday for a place in the Premier League.
