Megan McGurk hit two crucial free throws with 2.9 seconds remaining as Notre Dame defeated Spring-Ford, 58-56, in a Blue Chip Tip-Off girls' basketball game Saturday at Archbishop Carroll.

McGurk tied the game on a layup with 34 seconds left, giving her 1,000 career points and becoming the 10th player in school history to hit that mark.

McGurk finished the game with 33 points, a Notre Dame record. She added six rebounds, six steals, and five assists.

Kathleen Fitzpatrick scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Irish. She hit five three-pointers.

In other girls' basketball action:

Springfield (Delco) Tournament. Taylor Thames took an inbound pass and ran out most of the 6.7 seconds remaining to help Unionville hold on to a 39-38 victory over Penn Wood and secure the tournament title. Thames, a sophomore, scored 10 points to pace the Indians. Casey Scheuer added 10 points.

Delco Christian Tip-Off. Agnes Irwin allowed only 10 points in the second and third quarters combined to defeat Delco Christian, 44-34, and win the tournament title. Faith DeVlieger scored a team-high 12 points for Agnes Irwin.

Germantown Community Tournament. Penn Charter held Germantown Academy to 10 points in the first half as the Quakers defeated the Patriots, 45-34, to win the Germantown Community Tournament. Hannah Fox led the Quakers with 21 points. Nicolette Napoleon added eight points and 12 rebounds.

Boys' Basketball

Rabberman Tournament. Will Faccenda scored 20 points to help Council Rock South defeat George School, 51-35, in the championship game. Christian Crane, who was named tournament MVP, collected 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Jack Dougherty hit a game-winning jumper with 12 seconds remaining as New Hope-Solebury rallied to beat Jenkintown, 40-39, in the consolation game. Matt Massimino led New Hope-Solebury with 17 points. Jenkintown had a 10-point lead with two minutes remaining.

Coaches vs. Cancer. Terry Larrier scored a game-high 23 points, and Phelps downed Shipley, 55-38, for the title. Larrier, a junior guard, also was named tournament MVP. Zac Tillman led Shipley with 15 points.

Abington Tip-Off Tournament. Chris Vila nailed four three-pointers to lift Wissahickon to a 67-51 victory over West Chester Henderson. Vila scored 18 points. Twins Chas and Jason McCormick combined for 43 of Henderson's 51 points.

Gonzaga Classic. TreVaughn Wilkerson compiled seven points, 10 rebounds, and six blocks to lead Roman Catholic to a 49-38 victory over Archbishop Carroll (D.C.).

Shep Garner led the Cahillites in points with 16. Manny Taylor contributed nine points and eight rebounds, and Traci Carter added seven points and six steals.
